The inspiration for the new Dolce &
Gabbana collection for fall/winter 2013-14 comes from their beloved Sicily,
especially from the basilic in Monreale, which is filled with Byzantine mosaic.
The show was the most important event
in Milan. The last collections were criticized because of its repetitiveness,
despite the fact that their collections are and were very beautiful! This time
Stefano and Domenico moved us to the Byzantine empire from the 5th
century.
What they saw (Domenico and Stefano) in
Monreale cathedral they transferred it on fabrics. The models walked through
the runaway wearing a figures of saints on their clothes, gold tiaras and
arresting accessories (shoes, jewellery or bags). The concept was brilliant! You
can explain it by saying: what belongs to the national treasure, (like remains
after Byzantine culture), it will be always admired.
The collection speaks for itself! Just
look at the photos! I love the accessories, the red lace dresses embroidered
with little stones and complemented with gold jewellery. The mosaic dress will be wanted by every
woman. Apart from gold and red, Dolce & Gabbana showed us elegant costumes
and coats in grey and black colours. Admire! ;)
